A prothrombin time is used as indicator of how two major coagulation pathways are functioning. This test is used to screen for abnormalities with the clotting process. Please note, this test is not used for any type of monitoring.
Test Preparation For Optimal Results:
If possible, have the lab collected early in the morning or shortly after waking. For comparison purposes, have subsequent labs collected close to the same time.
