When diabetes is a newly diagnosed, a C-Peptide may be helpful in helping to distinguish type 1 & 2 diabetes. A C-peptide test may be useful when evaluating hypoglycemia, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, hypertension and cholesterol imbalances.

Test Preparation For Optimal Results:

It is best to be fasting for approximately 14-16 hours prior to lab collection (without food or liquids except water).
